Give the Give of Creativity & Fulfillment
One of our parents recently summed up the mission we strive for every day. She said, “Our kids deserve to have productive engagement.” Here at Community Based Services (CBS), we agree.
While we provide top tier programming, we’re always striving to offer more creative and engaging activities for your loved one. These enrichment programs, led by professionals, take place on our Cultivating Dreams Farm, at our ADA compliant vacation home and now at CBS’s new art center. The people we serve enjoy fulfilling and hands-on activities, in addition to the core programs they are currently involved in.
In Patterson, New York, our new Hudson Valley InterArts Center is fast becoming a vibrant arts hub. There, your loved one can take interactive classes in music, art, crafts, pottery, dance, drama and yoga. To meet the needs and interests of those we serve, our class schedule has grown from 2 to 6 days per week. Growth will continue with the expansion of creative spaces including a performance center, art and music spaces and a pottery studio. A music and podcast recording studio is slated to open in early 2023. Check out more details at hudsonvalleyinterarts.org.
Through our Cultivating Dreams Program, we engage hundreds of people each year at our farm in Hopewell Junction, NY. There, people work hands-on in our newly constructed greenhouses and large open-air garden. They play bocce ball, basketball and pickle ball. We even teach small animal care. Our skilled art teachers develop the creativity in each person who visits our newly renovated “art barn.” New this year is a partnership with the Pied Piper Youth Theater. Look for our first performance, The Grinch, which will debut later in 2022. Watch a video to learn more about these creative opportunities here: cultivatingdreams.org.
The people in our core programs have shown tremendous interest in these engaging activities and the demand for these services has increased. With this growth, the cost to maintain these programs has also increased. That’s where we need your help.
We need additional funding for more teachers, staff, supplies and resources to offer these services to more of the people we serve in our group homes, day and employment programs.
To that end, we have a new idea for gift giving this year — the gift of creativity and fulfillment — made possible by sponsoring annual memberships to the Hudson Valley InterArts Center. I’m asking our families to donate what they can, either as a one-time gift or as an on-going supporter, to enhance your family member’s life and that of others who will benefit.
Anyone can give. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. Spread the word! This gift provides rich experiences throughout all of 2023 and will shorten your shopping load!
Please consider the options outlined below. By sponsoring, your generosity will have impact — bringing joy, creativity, improved physical fitness and fulfillment to everyone on your list.
Your support is vital. Thank you for your on-going generosity and happy holidays.
